Tim Hockenberry Journal

03.27.09-

Hello to all my fabulous friends and wives of the internet!!!

Tim here, and this is my first, latest, and only journal entry for the launching of my new web site.

I am currently working five nights a week, solo, in some of San Francisco's finest watering holes, trying to make ends meet while I am waiting on the final mixes of my latest record, due out this Summer. When I am not singing for grumpy waitresses and brawlers, I am usually on my bicycle, furiously but aimlessly exploring the beautiful hills of the San Francisco Bay Area while trying to not get killed by a "stay at home mom" in a gas guzzling SUV. (What happened to "stay at home" anyway???)

Speaking of not staying at home, I am still recovering from my fist ever musical road experience which was a three month-plus tour last Winter with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. TSO..... where Christmas meets Heavy Metal meets Beethoven meets 21 fully loaded eighteen wheelers and 17 tour busses. We played 71 sold out arenas on the East Coast in about 65 days!! 12,000 people a show!!! Looking out over the crowd it was hard not to say to myself, "damn, I am definitely in the RIGHT business!!" But I was soon relieved of that thought after returning home in January to the grinding reality of my local career. But actually, I prefer the smaller intimate clubs and I will take my bike and the sun over a bus and two feet of snow any day. And I definitely do not miss all the pyro and laser flashing and exploding around me. But it was big fun to be sure!! And I do really miss the catering company!!

Well I am off to find the meaning of all this. The sun in blasting here in Mill Valley California and the hills are calling me.

All the best,
Tim Hockenberry
